From athletics to after-school clubs, students discover passions, build confidence, and strengthen community.
Students can extend their learning and pursue their passions through a variety of extracurricular opportunities. Open Window offers competitive athletic teams for middle school students and a diverse selection of after-school clubs for Kindergarten through 8th grade, fostering teamwork, creativity, leadership, and fun.

Programs like FIRST LEGO League blend engineering and programming with teamwork, so students learn how to troubleshoot, explain their thinking, and improve their work over time. Students build skills in visual art and music, and many take part in theatre productions that require collaboration, responsibility, and confidence. Whether a student prefers to be onstage or behind the scenes, there are meaningful roles and steady guidance from faculty who know how gifted learners think, work, and grow. |
| Athletics |  | ATHLETICSOWS athletics are inclusive by design. Students in Grades 5–8 compete in the Cascade Middle School League, with short seasons that make it easier to join multiple teams. Everyone is welcome, playing time is guaranteed, and coaches focus on skill development and sportsmanship. Students learn how to handle wins and setbacks with maturity. |

They practice public speaking, listen closely to opposing ideas, and respond with composure. Whether a student is brand new or already competitive, the culture is welcoming, with opportunities to learn from others and improve through regular play. |
| Bobcat Times |  | BOBCAT TIMESBobcat Times is our student newspaper, written and produced by middle schoolers. Students pitch story ideas, conduct interviews, and edit drafts with an eye for clarity and accuracy. They learn how to organize information, consider audience, and meet deadlines. It’s a strong fit for students who enjoy writing, asking good questions, and helping the community stay informed. |
| Girls Who Code |  | GIRLS WHO CODEGirls Who Code is a space for students to build coding skills and work on projects with purpose. Students collaborate on challenges, troubleshoot together, and learn by making, not just following steps. The focus is on confidence, problem solving, and using technology to create something real. Students of different experience levels can participate and grow at their own pace. |
ATHLETICS
Open Window offers a full slate of middle school athletic teams for students in Grades 5–8. We compete in the Cascade Middle School League alongside other local independent schools. Our seasons are intentionally short (8–10 weeks) to encourage participation in multiple sports and activities and to leave time for fun.
Seasonal Sports:
Fall: Cross Country, Girls Volleyball
Winter: Boys and Girls Basketball
Spring: Tennis, Track & Field, Ultimate Frisbee
All students are welcome to join. We guarantee playing time, focus on skill development, and match teams against similarly skilled opponents to ensure healthy, exciting competition.

ACADEMIC TEAMS
For students who love a challenge of a different kind, our afterschool academic competitive teams offer exciting ways to dive deeper and shine:
First Lego League: Engineering, programming, and problem-solving meet in this hands-on team competition that blends STEM with teamwork and innovation.
Debate: Students learn to build strong arguments, speak persuasively, and think on their feet, all while developing confidence and critical thinking.
These programs are offered by application and are designed for students who want to stretch their skills in a supportive, collaborative setting.
